Bucegi
Bucegi is one of Romania's most historically significant beer brands — first brewed at the Reghin brewery in 1984 and rapidly distributed across all major Romanian breweries including Timișoara, Miercurea Ciuc, Cluj, Constanța, Bacău, Hateg, Suceava, Oradea, Galați, Brașov, Sibiu, Pitești and Buzău, making it the dominant national lager brand of the communist era. Following Romania's revolution and the turbulent transition years, Bucegi was withdrawn from the market in 1995. In February 2002 Brau Union Romania made the bold decision to revive the brand, positioning it as a bridge between tradition and the present — a beer that had stood close to Romanian consumers through hardship and change. The revival was a success, and when Heineken acquired Brau Union Romania in 2003 Bucegi entered the international portfolio as one of its most important local brands. In 2020 Bucegi introduced a new recipe with two hop varieties, delivering a richer taste and longer-lasting foam at 4.5% ABV. Named after the iconic Bucegi mountain range in the Romanian Carpathians.
