Edelweiss Dunkel

Beer Description

Edelweiss Dunkel is the dark wheat beer expression of Austria's most celebrated Weizenbier brand, launched alongside the flagship Hefetrüb in 1986 under Brau Union Österreich. Pouring a striking chestnut brown with a large creamy head, it delivers complex aromas of vanilla, cinnamon and roasted malt — a fuller, darker interpretation of the classic Bavarian wheat beer tradition. Naturally hazy from suspended yeast, it shares the Hefetrüb's top-fermented character but with significantly more malt depth and warming spice. Brewed using dark roasted wheat and barley malts with Edelweiss's proprietary yeast strain, it has won the World Beer Cup Bronze and European Beer Star Bronze. Since 2012 it has been brewed at Heineken's Zipf brewery in the Austrian Alpine foothills. Part of the Heineken portfolio through Brau Union since 2003.
