Beer Description
Gösser Märzen is the flagship beer of the Göss Brewery in Leoben, Styria, Austria. Brewing at Göss traces back to the Benedictine abbey founded in 1010 AD, with documented brewing from 1459. The commercial brewery was established in 1860 by Max Kober. Gösser became part of Brau Union Austria in 1991 (via the Steirerbrau merger) and Heineken acquired Brau Union in 2003. Gösser Märzen accounts for over 70% of the brewery's output. It was famously served at the gala dinner for the signing of the Austrian State Treaty in 1955. Brewed with spring water, Austrian barley, and Leutschach hops.
