Guinea Lager
Beer Description
Guinea Lager was an early brand produced by South Pacific Brewery (SP Brewery) in Lae, Papua New Guinea — part of the Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) network, which is a joint venture between Heineken International and Fraser & Neave dating back to 1931. APB acquired South Pacific Brewery in Papua New Guinea in 1958, adding its Lae brewery and the SP Lager brand to the portfolio. Guinea Lager was one of the early brands brewed at the Lae brewery during the 1958–1973 period, taking its name from Papua New Guinea (then still known as the Territory of Papua and New Guinea under Australian administration). SP Brewery is now fully part of the Heineken group since APB was acquired in 2013, and continues to operate breweries in Lae and Port Moresby.
