Lagunitas Brewing Company was founded in 1993 in Petaluma, California. Heineken acquired a 50% stake in Lagunitas in 2015 and increased to full 100% ownership in 2017. The 12th of Never Ale was first brewed in June 2016 and canned as an UnLimited Release in 2017. It is an American Pale Ale at 5.5% ABV with 45 IBUs, described by Lagunitas as hop-forward beer expressed in a moderate voice. Named with characteristic Lagunitas irreverence — implying something that would never happen finally did: Lagunitas putting beer in cans.
