Leopold Faro

Beer Description

Leopold Faro was a sweetened young lambic (faro) produced at Brasserie Léopold in Brussels, Belgium. Faro is a traditional Brussels beer style — young lambic blended with rock candy sugar to create a slightly sweet, refreshing variant of the spontaneously fermented base beer. Brasserie Léopold was acquired by Heineken in 1927 as the company's first international takeover. Heineken invested in the brewery in the early 1970s but sold its stake to Artois in 1976. The traditional lambic and faro styles would have been produced during the earlier decades of Heineken's ownership.
