Leopold Lambic

Beer Description

Leopold Lambic was a spontaneously fermented lambic-style beer brewed at Brasserie Léopold in Brussels, Belgium — one of the traditional Belgian styles produced by this important Brussels brewery. Brasserie Léopold was Heineken's first international takeover, acquired in 1927 making it a landmark in Heineken's global expansion strategy. The brewery began as a relatively small operation in the Brussels city centre, grew rapidly during the industrial era, and became a major Brussels industrial lager producer before closing in 1981. Heineken invested in the early 1970s, but sold its stake to Artois of Leuven in 1976, who closed the brewery in 1981. Lambic production at Brasserie Léopold ceased well before the brewery's final closure.
