Maes Pils

Beer Description

Maes Pils was first produced in 1930 for Antwerp's Universal Exposition under the name Prima Maezenbier. It is the third best-selling pilsner in Belgium after Jupiler and Stella Artois. Maes Brewery merged with Cristal-Alken in 1988 to form Alken-Maes. In 2000 it was acquired by Scottish & Newcastle, which was in turn acquired by Heineken in 2008. In 2009 Alken-Maes changed the recipe, raising the ABV from 4.9% to 5.2%. Brewed at the Alken brewery in Limburg, Belgium.
