Oedipus Thai Thai

Beer Description

Oedipus Thai Thai is the legendary spiced tripel that was born during the brewery's home brewing days in a small Amsterdam kitchen — the original mad recipe that defined Oedipus's identity. One visit to the local market in Amsterdam's Chinatown provided the inspiration: striking red chilli peppers, coriander, pungent lemongrass, oranges and galangal root filled the basket instead of the planned ginger. The result was a Belgian Tripel tradition disrupted by a full Thai spice rack — lemongrass, galangal root, coriander, orange peel and chilli pepper blending with exotic late hops via a Belgian Abbey yeast strain. Herbal and slightly sweet with an exciting interaction between spices, sweetness and freshness — described as familiar yet surprising. Brussels Beer Challenge Gold Medal Herb and Spice 2022. Dutch Beer Challenge Silver Medal Special +6% 2023. Heineken acquired a minority stake in Oedipus in 2019 and took full ownership in June 2023.
