Samba

Samba is an economy-segment pale lager produced at the Tango Sarl brewery in Rouiba, Algeria — 30 km from the capital Algiers. Algeria's first private brewery was founded on 26 September 1999 and launched its first beer, Tango Rouge, on 15 May 2001. The brand portfolio included the mainstream Tango and two economy brands, Samba and Fiesta. In January 2008 Heineken N.V. acquired the Tango Sarl brewery from Group Mehri — gaining not only Algeria's number one mainstream beer but also the economy segment brands including Samba. The brewery employed 350 staff and had a production capacity of 750,000 hectolitres. Within six months of the acquisition Heineken was brewing its own Heineken lager on site. Samba continues as the accessible, everyday drinking option in the Algerian market alongside the flagship Tango brand.
