Scherdel Premium Pilsner

Beer Description

Scherdel Premium Pilsner is the modern flagship lager of Scherdel Brauerei in Hof, Bavaria — succeeding the historic Edelhell as the brewery's strongest-selling and most representative product. A classic German pilsner style, it delivers pronounced hop bitterness, a clean malt backbone and a crisp dry finish characteristic of the northern German pilsner tradition rather than the softer Bavarian Helles style. Distributed primarily across eastern Upper Franconia, southern Saxony and northern Upper Palatinate, with limited export to France, Italy and Greece. The brewery entered the Heineken-connected portfolio in 2003 through the Kulmbacher Brauerei AG acquisition, which is part of the Paulaner Brauerei Gruppe connected to Heineken via the Brau Holding International joint venture. The Hof production site will close at the end of 2026, with the Scherdel brand expected to continue at the Sternquell brewery in Plauen-Neuensalz.
