Servatius Poorter

Servatius Poorter was a porter-style beer brewed at Sint Servatius Brouwerij (formerly De Zwarte Ruiter) in Maastricht — part of the traditional dark beer range that survived from the De Zwarte Ruiter era into the Heineken ownership period from 1920. Porter was a British-origin dark top-fermented beer style that had been popular in the Netherlands since the 18th century. The Sint Servatius Brouwerij was acquired by Heineken's Bierbrouwerij Maatschappij in 1920 and continued to brew regional Limburg styles including the Poorter alongside its pilsener production until the brewery closed in 1954.
