SP Lager

Beer Description

SP Lager is the flagship beer of South Pacific Brewery in Papua New Guinea — one of the most distinctively regional beers in the entire Heineken portfolio. South Pacific Brewery was acquired by Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) in 1958, bringing SP Lager into the Heineken-connected portfolio through the APB joint venture between Heineken and Fraser & Neave. SP Lager became the dominant mainstream beer across Papua New Guinea and is one of the most recognisable beer brands in the Pacific region — often simply called 'SP' by locals, a term that has become synonymous with beer itself in PNG. When Heineken acquired full control of APB in 2012, SP Lager became a direct Heineken portfolio brand. It remains the leading beer in Papua New Guinea's market and a genuine Pacific icon — as connected to PNG's national identity as any beer in the world is connected to its country.
