Tuatara Hazy Pale Ale
Tuatara Hazy Pale Ale is the beer that sparked a nationwide hazy craze in New Zealand — launched in 2019 alongside the brewery's striking black Third Eye packaging redesign. Described by head brewer Brayden Rawlinson as the ultimate hazy, with all the big flavour and aroma you should expect from the style but with a slightly lower ABV, the beer delivers a refreshing combination of mango and pineapple with a generous dose of citrus. Light-bodied with honeyed malt undertones and a blistering hit of Citra hops — tasting lime, mango and lychee from top to bottom at 5.5% ABV and 27 IBU. Tuatara was founded in 2000 in Paraparaumu by Carl Vasta and sold to DB Breweries for $30.5 million in January 2017. It had twice won the Brewers Guild of New Zealand Champion Brewery Award — an unprecedented achievement. The Hazy Pale Ale became the brand's most popular product nationally after its launch, triggering a wave of hazy pale ales across the entire New Zealand market.
