Zipfer Sparkling
Zipfer Sparkling is a unique highly carbonated lager from Brauerei Zipf in Upper Austria, sitting apart from the traditional Austrian lager range with its emphasis on effervescence and a lighter, more refreshing drinking experience. At 5.2% ABV it delivers full lager strength with noticeably higher carbonation than the standard Urtyp, creating a sparkling, lively mouthfeel that positioned the beer as a more contemporary, accessible choice. A 2003 academic study — Simone Fröschl's diploma thesis at the University of Vienna titled 'Gesellschaftlicher Wandel und neue Zielgruppe: Frauen und Bierwerbung am Beispiel Zipfer Sparkling' — documented its marketing as deliberately targeting female beer drinkers, making it one of the first Austrian mainstream beers to consciously address that audience. Part of the Heineken portfolio since the 2003 Brau Union acquisition.
