Amstel Light was introduced in 1980 and became one of the best-known lighter expressions of the Amstel beer family, especially in export and international markets. The Amstel brand had already become part of Heineken in 1968, placing Amstel Light within the Heineken portfolio from launch. As an archive profile, it represents the lighter beer movement: pale golden colour, filtered clarity, soft malt character, lower intensity, and a clean crisp finish designed for broad drinkability.
