Originally based on a Viennese recipe from 1881, Zhigulevskoye became the primary beer brand of the USSR, produced by over 700 different breweries under a unified state standard (GOST). It is celebrated more for its historic cultural status and refreshing simplicity than for complex craft characteristics.
