Export Returns (1946-1947)

Year
1947
Location
Amsterdam

The war had wiped out German and Japanese export competition.

Opportunity followed destruction.

By 1946:

  • Beer excise revenue reached 14.5 million guilders (first half year).
  • Exports increased significantly.
  • Africa became a key market.
  • The United States remained important.

Yet challenges persisted:

  • Import duties favoured British products in parts of Africa.
  • Dutch packaging costs were higher than competitors.
  • Currency restrictions limited trade.

Still, Heineken pushed outward.

Export was not luxury.

It was necessity.
